Hey gang...I put this project on the back burner but it's time to revisit. I can't decide on a color combo, let me know what your first reactions are to the colors and which one you prefer. Then I can proceed to the rest of the business cabinet. Thanks!

KITTY HARBOR

I am currently working on a 5 piece event promotion. The event is for Kitty Harbor and is held at the West Seattle Summer Fest. Kitty Harbor is a non profit cat rehabilitation and adoption center that is private owned and will have a booth at the fair. I am promoting Kitty Harbor's appearance at the Summer Fest with a poster, mailer (that would go to previous adopters), car flyers (for the West Seattle neighborhood), t-shirts, and one other piece (haven't decided). This is a concept I have been working with for a while now, but need opinions or fresh ideas if this isn't working. The typography is not perfect yet, I am just working on the concept as of right now, technicalities will come later. So let me know what YOU think the concept is. I will post some other concepts later.

5 Part Ad Campaign

This shoot turned out to be so much fun. I got do team up with a fellow student that happens to be a fabulous photographer and wonderful person. This was the first time I had ever art directed a photo shoot so I really had no idea what to do, all I knew was what I wanted for the end result. Trevor was a huge help and took so many great pictures. The make up was done by Alessandra Rose (model in top picture) and she hit the nail on the head for what I wanted. The assignment is a 5 part ad campaign. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and do a fashion based concept. These three images will be magazine ads for Aveda Cosmetics. 2 similar photos will be used for transit and bus stops. I can't thank Trevor and the girls enough, I can't wait to do more in the future!

Logo in the works

One of the projects for Portfolio 2 (P2) I am required to design a logo for a local business who has a logo that needs updating, or does not have one at all. My old boss desperately needs a nice clean logo to represent her business: EarthMaids. She runs a small environmentally friendly cleaning company in Seattle. She usually employs 2-3 people at one time, and has a very select group of clients. Few to none of her clients make less than six digits each year and most have houses in Medina, WA (home to Bill Gates, Jeff Brotman, and Jeff Bezo) that staff house managers, nanny's, personal assistants, and weekly house cleaners. This is not your typical Merry Maids. In attempt to step away from the typical "maid" logo that consists of brooms, little women in dresses vacuuming, mops, and whatever else, I am trying to say clean, environmental, and professional with the use of type and color. A popular trend today is to add a leaf to any logo to emphasize "environmental" so I am also try to steer away from that. My idea was to take the image of a globe/earth and represent it in the name somewhere, hence the "i". Anyway, let me know if you love, hate, or have seen this somewhere else before. I'm open to any suggestions! Thanks.

Cry For Help

This is my first blog post....ever. Bear with me. I have decided to begin blogging to gain support and receive constructive criticism from everyone and anyone as I push through my last year at school. I am at the Art Institute of Seattle majoring in graphic design, and it has been a serious struggle to make it this far.

This is where I kindly ask for your help. My first class of the quarter, Portfolio II, was yesterday. Starting on Monday the 25th I have one project due every Monday for 8 weeks after that. I need as many eyes to see my work as possible before I present it all to the panel on week 10. If I receive a conditional, I have ONE week to fix it and turn it back in. In a perfect world I would not receive any conditionals, but hopefully with all your eyes I can minimize how many I get. Here are a few pieces from Portfolio I that I will present along with my Portfolio II work to the panel. New stuff to come soon, I'm almost done with my first project for this quarter.


This is an article in Edible Seattle about a local bakery called Sugar Shack. The assignment was to use type in an innovative and experimental way. I found my inspiration from Steven Sagmeister for this piece and had a ton of fun with it.
Kaleidoscope Professional Landscaping is a Seattle based landscaping company. The assignment was to come up with a new logo and 5 pieces of collateral (I despise creating logos). The top logo is my creation, the bottom is their existing logo. In Portfolio II, this logo will be used again along with a graphic standards style guide (rules of logo usage basically). We had to apply an illustration to something informative. I found a profile I had drawn in an old sketchbook and thought it would be appropriate for a Human Rights conference. Thoughts on layout? It's only 8.5x11 and meant to get tacked up around the college campus.
