Logo in the works

One of the projects for Portfolio 2 (P2) I am required to design a logo for a local business who has a logo that needs updating, or does not have one at all. My old boss desperately needs a nice clean logo to represent her business: EarthMaids. She runs a small environmentally friendly cleaning company in Seattle. She usually employs 2-3 people at one time, and has a very select group of clients. Few to none of her clients make less than six digits each year and most have houses in Medina, WA (home to Bill Gates, Jeff Brotman, and Jeff Bezo) that staff house managers, nanny's, personal assistants, and weekly house cleaners. This is not your typical Merry Maids. In attempt to step away from the typical "maid" logo that consists of brooms, little women in dresses vacuuming, mops, and whatever else, I am trying to say clean, environmental, and professional with the use of type and color. A popular trend today is to add a leaf to any logo to emphasize "environmental" so I am also try to steer away from that. My idea was to take the image of a globe/earth and represent it in the name somewhere, hence the "i". Anyway, let me know if you love, hate, or have seen this somewhere else before. I'm open to any suggestions! Thanks.

  1. PS. The colors in my sketches got really messed up, sorry about that. Any ideas for taking this in a different direction are welcome! -h

  2. Hi Hana,

Out of all your thumbnails, I like the simple green/earthmaids/blue the best. Possibly the small dot on the i can be a globe or even a leaf. I don't think you necessarily have to stear clear of the leaf as a symbol especially since it is widely recognized as an environmental indicator.

  3. hey girl. i love that you've put your stuff up like this.

for earthmaids i agree with your Ma. the simple green and blue earthmaids is catchy. personally i like the open dot on the "i" one up from the bottom. also, just looking at your sketches, the one on the very top right you were obviously trying to do something with the "e". i like that. i like the idea of any additional images being a part of the text itself (i.e. a globe "e" or a leafy dot for the "i") simple seems to be best here.

sorry for the randomness of the comments. stream of thought. keep it up!

  4. Gut reaction: top one is most attractive. I like the circle attached to the eye, the clean lines of the font, all lower case.
